All OP fillers are important and foreshadow a lot about the characters. Like in this one, Luffy can understand dragons..you'll know why in the future arcs.

Filler is called filler because it doesn't necessary to the plot, just incase you don't know.

bit late but. do you know what filler is? Filler is content in an anime that wasn't in the source material (aka the manga). And this episode is a filler episode... because it wasn't in the manga

I believe the Calm Belt bit was in the manga, the rest of the arc is filler though. I could be mistaken as it's been a long time since I read that part of the manga but the Calm belt had o have been explained some time before they went into the grand line to explain why they couldn't just cross it and had to go through Reverse mountain.

Some filler is good, I honestly don't get the hate for it or the hate for even calling filler filler. It's not like Filler insults the series. One Piece as long as it is is actually one of the few that has very little filler to be completely Honest. Bleach and Naruto had way more filler. Bleach was maybe 30% filler and Naruto as like 40-45% filler. One Piece is like 2% filler. It uses other methods to draw the series out longer so as to not catch up with the Manga. Filler is usually added to a series to keep the anime from catching up to the manga, usually to give Fans something to watch while they wait for the Manga to gain a bit more ground. Currently Oda is on break for a month right now though so we might get another filler arc between Wano and the next one or they could also make the anime go on break for a little bit too.

Yeah. One Pieces filler is really good, cant complain about it. Feels like your just watching a regular episode. Filler has a rep of being not as good as the original so some people just skip filler all together as they are just interested in the original work (even I skipped filler of Naruto and bleach cus the filler % is wayyy to high)

I watched most of the Naruto Filler my first watch through but I skip it now during rewatches. I stopped watching it during the war arc though, Bleach... I dropped bleach entirely, Naruto's fillers at least maintained continuity while Bleaches... never paid any attention to where the characters were in the story and Bleach has the weakest Story telling out of the 3.

Filler arc or not, skipping to the last episode of it made me wanna watch the whole arc and see how things got to that point. Its also just my first time watching One Piece at an age where ill remember actually remember it.
